Updating The Basics.

25.10.14

Along with the furry goodness from Zara, of course I had to make the usual trip to Primark, even though the Birmingham store on a Saturday, to put it lightly, is a circus. But after recently finding personal style blogger, Charlotte on Instagram - www.cravegreenvelvet.com, her Primark looks were my inspiration. I was actually on the hunt for a beautiful shaggy oxblood fur jacket styled by her which I unfortunately didn't find, but I did find a few other things...

Chunky Black Snake Texture Shoes_

Price: £13.00_

These gorgeous chunky shoes have been featured continually by bloggers and I had to get my hands on them. For me and many others chunky sandals were the hit of the Summer. Primark has created the Winter reinvention. There are so many aspects I love about the shoes, the chunky soles, snake print texture & matching tongues and lastly the quirky zip, what's not to love?! A perfect pair of shoes for me is a pair that can be worn day or night. Using a word I hate, 'edgy', styling them up with a black t-shirt dress and chunky jewellery can create an 'edgy' look for a night out. Jeans and a basic tee during the day can be updated for this season's look with just these shoes.

Oxblood Red Tassel Handbag_

Price: £9.00_

I'm not a huge handbag buyer, I have several black favourites and I tend to swap and change between them, and as we know black is best in fashion. I compromised on making an autumnal change this season following my new love for the colour red, specifically oxblood. A faux leather shopper handbag is a pretty perfect size for a bag, the amount of things us women manage to haul into our bags, let's be honest we need as much space as possible! While I struggle to carry much on my right arm at the moment a shopper style fitted over the shoulder is a stylish modification.
The tassel just gives the extra oomph!

Black Knit Polo Neck_

The new Winter basic.
We all know our basics are primary in our wardrobes and these fundamental pieces are the way in which our style incorporates new trends and this piece is the Winter take on a black tee. I'm not saying you won't be needing your classic black and white t-shirts, of course you will, layering is a must and black, white and grey are the perfect way to do so. Polo necks or rollnecks as some might say are extremely versatile, worn with jeans, smart trousers, tucked into skirts, worn under dresses, you name it a thin knit is super stylish yet easy to style.

I had to include my favourite blogger at this point, Megan Ellaby, the creator of www.pagesbymegan.com for the best polo neck looks!
