The year has finally arrived.
The fashion elite of the world will be
dressed head to toe in honouring one of the world’s most influential designers,
Alexander McQueen, in welcoming one of the most creative and exciting
exhibitions to hit London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty.
The retrospective first appeared at the New York Metropolitan Museum in 2011
after his truly sad passing in February 2010. Savage Beauty will run from ‘14
March – 19 July 2015. Celebrating the extraordinary creative talent of one of
the most innovative designers of recent times, Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty
will be the first and largest retrospective of McQueen's work to be presented
in Europe.’[1] ‘The
exhibition will showcase McQueen’s visionary body of work. Spanning his 1992 MA
graduate collection to his unfinished A/W 2010 collection, McQueen’s designs
will be presented with the dramatic staging and sense of spectacle synonymous
with his runway shows.’[2]
As a fashion
fanatic myself I was ecstatic to receive tickets to the exhibition for 15th March 2015 and have been contemplating outfit options
already! I thought London Fashion Week was difficult enough to dress for!
“London’s
where I was brought up. It’s where my heart is and where I get my inspiration.”[3]

In light of the
arrival of one of the top 10 visited exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum,
fashion forward website Farfetch has produced the most amazing and wonderful
tribute in an infographic, as pictured below.

This leads me in introducing you to www.farfetch.com.
I was contacted by them to publish a piece for them on the forthcoming exhibition advertising their infographic in which I jumped at the chance to compose for such an innovative fashion website.
‘Far fetch is a global community of over 300 visionary fashion boutiques offering an inspiration shopping experience to fashion-forward consumers.
The indepedant boutiques within our community have been carefully selected for their forward-thinking attitude, unique approach to merchandising and diversity of brands.
They are located everywhere from Paris, New York and Milan to Bucharest, Riyadh and Seattle, but united in on e-commerce website. When you order through Farfetch, your order is delivered directly from the boutique to your door.
Founded in 2008, with offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo and Port, Farfetch showcases over 1000 labels and is dedicated to supporting independent fashion and to the cultural diversiy that comes from uniting the perspectives of hundereds of different buyers, each with their own unique style and vision.’[4]
As a true fashion follower and fashion/textile student, Farfetch is a true inspiration to creative consumers aspiring to have their inventive ideas and boutiques advertised and published upon their influential website. Of course they sell the well-known designers, such as Burberry, Lanvin & Vivienne Westwood in which we all know, but they are creating a step in which unknown designers and boutiques are given a platform into the fabulous world of fashion. Even if it’s only to look, the pieces they sell are honestly breath-taking, definitely worth having a gander around!
