So I've finally endured the long awaited arm surgery!
Five months later than planned!
I now have myself a metal working arm, pretty excited for it to finally work!
I thought I've give a bit of picture book experience of what's happened and what I've had done.
This is obviously an image of the x-ray. As you can see there is one severe break where the bones are crossing like swords, even in my words, 'it's disgusting!'.
It doesn't look nice and certainly did not feel nice! As well as that main fracture there were a total of thirteen including hairline fractures; I managed to do a good bit of damage!
These two images show the bone movement which occurred regularly each day. It moved from pointing outwards to inwards, as obviously not being set or sturdy in any sort of way, it was just free to move however it wanted. I wore an arm brace for five months and could only take it off for a matter of minutes before being in agony so it was extremely important to me.
Even though it wasn't exactly stylish!
Finally arriving in hospital.
I'm vowing not to wear one of those bands for a long while now, I deserve a break!
Obligatory image of my home for the few days!
Seriously unappealing selfie but this was just waking up after the anaesthetic.
Honestly I had the worst experience going down to surgery. Since the accident no one has been able to get blood out of me. My veins clearly have gone into utter meltdown and whenever I go to hospital or the doctors, that's it, you'll never find them! So say when you go for a blood test most people are able to get blood out of their arm, I've been having it taken out of mostly my groin and also foot and it is painful!! Anyhow seven attempts in the arm while waiting to go into surgery not working; my foot is what we had to settle with. I didn't think I could be poked and prodded anymore, but yes I was mistaken. During the operation there was a high chance my nerves were going to be messed with and after the nerve problems I had with my back and leg this isn't something I wanted to endure. So this meant an injection in my neck, but it had to go deep into my nerve which threw my poorly arm out, so I was crying before I even went into surgery! I don't think the poor suffering nurse had had her hand squeezed so hard either!
This is the battering my left arm has taken from the needles, looks an absolute state in person!
So this is the outcome so far, a hugely swollen bandaged to the nine arm!
To be honest it hasn't been too horrendous pain wise, I have my beloved tramdol to deal with that. It has been the anaesthetic which has knocked me really sick, dizzy and unable to do much. Just is a bit unfortunate as I'd managed to feel sort of normal in the past few weeks and was nearly off the tablets and I've pretty much taken ten steps back, especially with the tramadol. With an addiction to a drug it's made things even more of a struggle but that will just have to be a very very slow process.
Will keep you updated and back to my fashion posts now I feel a bit better.
