Skinny Jean DIY.

6.6.14

So I've been meaning to buy a pair of ripped black jeans for a while.

Previously I have never been a huge fan of this particular trend but since they have crept back into style I've decided to keep it classically cool with black skinny jeans instead of blue straight legs. For me personally I will get more wear out of them not just this season but all year around, but this tutorial would work on any pair you are choosing to revamp.

These particular jeans are Topshop's Joni Jeans brand which are my ultimate go-to jeans. I think many other bloggers would agree with the previous statement, they are extremely popular! As skinny jeans this style fits me beautifully, having the ability to choose your waist and length size makes them personal for you. For you not aware of this particular Topshop brand make sure you check them out, the fabric, vast amount of colours and longevity makes them the perfect pair of jeans!

So to my tutorial! I know you can buy the Joni Jeans already ripped but I decided as I already had two pairs of the black, so why not do it myself
This easy picture tutorial will show you how!

1.       Putting the jeans on is a must! You need to know where your knee is, that is if you’re aiming to cut them at the knee. If you’re going random putting them on may help you still just so the rips don’t look too crazy!

2.       Grab a pen/pencil/crayon, whatever! And draw a line (that you are able to see) where you want to cut the jean.

3.       Then EXTREMLEY CAREFULLY, use fabric scissors to cut into the jeans, cutting a straight line. I’d actually advise you to take off the jeans and just use the mark you've made as a guideline to cut them open.

4.       This is what they should look like so far!!

5.       Next, it might sound weird, but grab a dry flannel. This is going to be used to give a off a rough and frayed effect.

6.       So at this point you can then use the flannel and rub into the cuts where a more frayed edging should now be created.

7.       After fraying you can create small slits to create a few more rough and rocky edges and each time just rub into them with a flannel.

8.       When you’re finished cutting and slitting you should have your finished product!

Hope you've this tutorial helps if you're wanting to do the same to your jeans!
